Newport Local History Society was founded in 1984 by a group of local people with the aim of encouraging an interest in the past of our town.
The society has grown considerably over the years, it currently has a membership of approximately 130 people.
We have a very full and interesting program, we meet regularly every other Wednesday, for talks in the winter and trips in the summer. There are other social activities such as a quiz, treasure hunt and an annual dinner. Anybody is welcome to attend. If you are not a member just come along and see what we do. We are a friendly bunch and always like to see new faces. Click here to see our programme of events.
We always welcome new members, don't let our president put you off, he's a friendly chap - really!
